Dear Friends, Thanksgiving, 2009
Because of foot surgery, a dear friend at East West handed over his short-term team/trip to Guwahati, Assam to me. So from Nov. 4th through the 14th, I was in Assam.
We experienced the wondewrful power of the Lord among the Assamese people, seeing 87 folks "step over the line, and hand the control of their lives to the Lord"
Assam is not as open as many States in the South, and there is more open opposition to the work there. I spent 6 hours in "custody", and was questioned pretty intensly, but there wasn't real threat to stop what we were doing. The police are responsible for protecting any foreigners, and they were simply doing their jobs well.
EWMI is committed to establishing grace-oriented churches where none exist, so please keep Assam in your prayers.
I am home for just two weeks, and will return to South India the day after Thanksgiving. We will do follow-up work with the most recent trainees in the south, and we are going to train at least two new groups in Tamil Nadu. Pray for the Lord to raise up "Apostle Paul" like leaders, so that those who have never heard may soon receive the Word. This training period will be for 2.5 weeks, and then I will return to family for the Christmas Holidays.
Exciting personal news from home; Deb and Abby have moved home! Yes, we have a sixth-grader in our house again, and its quite wonderful. Deb is planning to attend college and become an RN. Wow!
Sam and Meg have relocated to Carlsbad, a neighboring community to Oceanside, so we have all four girls living within a few miles from our house. We are very blessed.
Financially, we are for the first time challenged! Our support is lower than it should be, so we are in the RED for the first time. Thanks to all of you who faithfully partner with us, but do join us in praying for
new partners to underwrite our work.
Plus, each trip costs about $1,000 extra for all the in-country expenses; paying for each student we train, including transportation, hotels and food, and rental costs for a room to train them. EWMI has asked that all missionaries raise this money in a down economy.
Thankyou for all you are doing in and through us. The new approach to church planting we are implementing is radically making huge in-roads to establishing many new churches in India. EWMI is committed to establishing grace oriented churches where none previously have ever existed.
As Thanksgiving approaches, Maureen and I send our love to each of you. We appreciate you very much.
